In spite of the judge’s ruling, national group coach Jorge Sampaoli says Vidal can continue to play for Chile within the on-going Copa America.
Vidal appeared in court on Wednesday just after being detained overnight. He suffered minor injuries in the crash, as did his wife, who was a passenger.
Vidal scored twice on Monday in Chile’s 3-3 draw with Mexico and is the major scorer inside the tournament with three objectives.
Chilean state tv showed images of Vidal’s badly broken red Ferrari and mentioned his car collided with an additional automobile just south on the capital city.
The Juventus star posted a short video message on YouTube. “Today, I had a automobile accident. It was not my fault. I’m fine, my family’s fine. Thank you for every thing,” Vidal stated.
It was not instantly clear how Vidal’s arrest would influence his participation within the tournament.
Vidal, like the rest of your Chilean squad, had the afternoon off following their 3-3 draw with Mexico within the Copa America on Monday.
The 28-year-old scored twice in that match and would be the top scorer in the tournament with 3 targets.
